Florida Wedding Chapel: Historic Derby Street Chapel

Indian River Queen, the paddlewheel dinner boat located at Cocoa Village Marina has UNITED with the Historic Derby Street Chapel located in Cocoa Village. “This is a match made in heaven”, said Penny Flaherty, the Queen’s wedding & event planner. She goes on to say, “Even though the Indian River Queen is a perfect venue to host an all inclusive wedding ceremony and reception, there is the occasional bride who has dreams of being married in a quaint little chapel. The Derby Street Chapel is just perfect! ”

Florida Weddings: Using Creativity In This Economy

8/4/2010 5:10:53 PM ~ Posted By By Invitation Only

Hi everyone:

I closed my wedding planning and invitation showroom about 5 months ago and headed up to Port St Lucie, Florida because of my husband's business and decided to open up here.  Because of the economy I decided not to open a showroom but instead started working out of a home office.  It is definately different up here than in Miami but I have faith in my ability as a wedding planner to make a name for my company wherever I go.  Anywhoooo after creating what I think is a really nice brochure, getting a facebook page I just got my first wedding  in PSL YEAH!!!!!!.  What I am seeing and this is probably in any city is that Brides cannot spend what they were spending years ago so I took that into consideration and changed my rates and went back to the grass roots of the business and became extremely creative.  I think anyone can have a great and beautiful wedding with any budget as long as you do it in taste and have a creative mind.  Brides are always afraid that they cannot afford a planner but truly we do save the bride money because there are so many little things that we know that a Bride does not.

So for now I am happy with my first wedding in this area.  I plan on getting out in the WPB, Stuart, Jupiter, Jenson Beach area and letting everyone know that they NOW have a fabulous planner in the area. LOL

Bye for now...Diane with by invitation only

Beaches of South Walton: The Perfect Location for Your Florida Wedding and Honeymoon

Beaches of South Walton for Florida Weddings

With the sad state of our economy, recently I have been getting a lot of questions about destination weddings versus hometown weddings as related to the cost of the wedding.  I could make the case for both... you can have a wedding on your budget anywhere that you want, you may just have to adjust certain aspects of the wedding to remain within the constraints of your budget!

Beach weddings are high on the list for destination weddings but you do not have to travel to Mexico or the Bahamas for the beach wedding of your dreams. You can help our economy by planning your beach destination wedding on one of the many beautiful beaches the USA has to offer.

Brides and Grooms in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Louisiana can easily drive to the group accommodations available to plan your Florida wedding or honeymoon.  Following is a list of the fabulous beaches included in Beaches of South Walton:

For more on Seaside, see our exclusive article "A Honeymoon Haven in a Perfect Beach Town, Seaside, Florida"

Worried about the Gulf Oil Spill?  Don't be!  Beaches of South Walton keeps a daily blog update on the condition of their beaches and waters.  You can see the updates with tar and oil free pictures here:

American Idol's Anoop Bridal Contest

6/3/2010 4:06:00 PM ~ Posted By Lei Lydle

Anoop Desai Wedding Serenade Contest

Listen up ladies! Former American Idol contestant and fan fave, Anoop Desai, is sponsoring a contest whereby you can win an in-person serenade by Anoop at your wedding! How fun! I would love that! Anoop was one of my favorite contestants!

I just got off the phone with Anoop, who recently released his new pop album "All is Fair", and he is very excited about the chance to make one bride's special day even more memorable.

What will Anoop sing for you if you win? I asked the same question! He said he does have a number of songs that he could sing that would be appropriate for the occasion or he could sing something off of his new album. He would work with the winner to decide! That is awesome!

One restriction: Your wedding has to take place in the United States on or after July 16, 2010 to be eligible.

So here's the scoop, there's not much time, the contest ends this month - yikes! If you want a shot at this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, follow these instructions:

  1. Head on over to Anoop's Web site and order his new album, All is Fair.
  2. After you order, email your receipt to anoopdesaibride@gmail.com by June 30th.

Anoop's team will notify the lucky winner! And maybe they will let us know as well and we will report back!

Listen for Anoop's radio single in July - it is the title track off the album "All is Fair".

Finding a Wedding Reception Site

9/4/2009 8:54:43 PM ~ Posted By Cynthia Lewnes

I have discovered that finding a reception site is much more difficult than it seems. I have yet to choose one, but have fallen in love with many. I have also found many that I did not like at all. I have developed a few rules about my search and decided I would share them.

1. E-mail any Site that you are Even Remotely Interested in. I have found that some sites that I only e-mailed because someone else told me to, or because they were in the areas I was looking in, have made it into my top 5. Some that I just "knew" I would love ended up being lower than some that I just decided to go visit just because.

2. If the Site Manager/Representative Doesn't E-mail/Call you Back, it's not Worth Trying Again. My philosophy is that if people are not willing to give you their attention when they haven't even convinced you to go with their site, they really won't be inclined to give you attention when they already have your money.

3. Book Appointments that are all Within One Area on the Same Day. This is a rule I just came up with. After going back to literally the same one mile radius on three different days, I realized that I was wasting my time by not scheduling them all on the same day.

4. Bring a Notebook to All Appointments. My fiance and I have found this to be a vital part of our elimination process. We take notes on everything that the representatives have told us. We also have a dedicated section of the notebook for likes and dislike by venue. We start a new page as soon as we get in the car from an appointment and take 5 minutes writing down likes/dislikes of each venue.

5.  Look for What's Around the Venue. If you have a ton of out of town guests, there should be a hotel nearby. If you are set on being married in a church, make sure that there is a church that suits your needs locally. Unless you're planning on renting a bus for your guests, they'll greatly appreciate it if you're being considerate of them.

Those are just a few things off the top of my head, if I think of anything else I will definitely post it. Happy Hunting!

The Inn at Palmetto Bluff - Paradise Found

8/2/2009 3:24:19 PM ~ Posted By Lei Lydle

The Inn at Palmetto Bluff

I fell in love with South Carolina's "Low Country" long before I could experience it. Noted author, Pat Conroy delivered an awe-inspiring description of the destination pressed between the pages of his novel, "The Prince of Tides." The Low Country was almost mystical in my mind, where the ebb and flow of the tides soothe the soul, and the swaying salt marshes provide nurseries for infant marine life...

Library Themed Weddings

7/19/2009 3:57:45 PM ~ Posted By Lei Lydle

Original Article Posted: 2/11/2008 10:30:04 AM

While this type of theme may only appeal to a handful of you out there - it is perfect for librarians and avid readers or library lovers!  I think it would be a challenge to find a library to host a wedding but I thought these two couples had the right idea...

Scott & Diana have posted images of their library-themed invitation, rules for the reception - which are quite clever considering they seem like library rules - as well as their RSVP card.  Although they were unable to have their wedding in an actual library, the library theme was fitting because the both work in libraries.  Great job Scott & Diana - way to get creative!

Raina & Mike actually held their wedding in a library in Clayville, New York.  They were able to spend less than $600 on their entire event - which is completely unheard of for weddings in New York.  You can read about their wedding here.
